Griefed and pillaged

I’ve returned to play on my favorite European server and I found that my base has been griefed. Private chests (with signs on the back – but some people told me more users signs allow access, wtf) were stolen from, I see some random protected chest from PluralPencil

Fellow player with permissions were able to say grief was done by Rubb3r_duckey.

Please help me. I cleared like a 300 by 300 area to be 100% flat and now I have no resources. All my beacons are gone, no diamond tools, no food. I really wanted to play here but I can’t.

This has been fixed. I've rolled back the griefing that happened, restored the contents of your chests and re-protected your chests.

The reason the players were able to gain access to your chests is when we upgraded to 1.8 in January Mojang changed the way sign data was stored, it's now stored as json. Instead of converting the brackets into text in the json and simply escaping them, they decided to remove them.

So when our signs had text like this: [Private] ridddle it became Private ridddle, which essentially removed all the chest protections.

We did a PSA about it in January. We know that there was a converter made available for signs but by the time we knew about it (2 days after converting) there was no way to use the converter without first rolling the entire server back to two days prior to the upgrade and due to us upgrading to 1.8 the player activity at the time was immense. Many many players would have lost work so I made the decision to instead continue with the broken signs and we are rolling them back as reported and fixing signs when we see them.

Again your area has been fixed back to how it was when you last played and I've already protected your chests for you as of this post
