I would like to start this by saying Summer School is over for me ! Now I have three weeks off to sit in front of a screen and build stuff.

Now let's get down to it. First of all I would like to propose new rules for NICK NAMES, these are a proposed set of guidelines that will make it fair for everyone.

1) Nicknames given to players will HAVE TO relate to their USERNAME in SOME WAY OR FORM. This is a must, if your name is jackerdelta and you want to nickname yourself "CuteUnicorn" No one will know who the heck you are!

2) Nicknames will be given to a group that is high up there in terms of ranks, I am thinking of City Planner+ Now you may be wondering why I purpose City Planner and not Epic Crafter+ well that is because in my eyes City Planner is one of the most undermined ranks. If you think about it Apprentice and Architect get so many new permissions both on the Creative and Survival servers. Then you have City Planner who gets flying and Voxil. Flying can be bought in the shop and Voxil Sniper isn't much different from Light Sniper. Now this is just a proposition and I believe making this choice would make the ranks more fair.

3) Time. If we don't want to have something where a certain rank gets a username the easiest alternative without much work would be to do it off a time basis. For example if you are on the server for more than 3 months you can get a SHORTER version of your username (e.g, jackerdelta -> Jack) and if you are on for even longer you can get more options such as ability to HAVE the command /nick and rename yourself follow the guidelines proposed in rule 1.

This brings me to my conclusion, we need to bring nicknames back. Some of us really think that we chose a wrong username that was already taken up or we weren't just thinking at the time. By bringing back nicknames in some sort of organized system we will be able to be more unique as a player, not just another username out there in the world. To top this all having nick names will for most, enhance their experience on the server, be able to choose your own Nick Name under a certain guideline would really make an average user feel special. Well Pri had said before that he is looking into a way of bringing them back but eventually when they won't be handed out so freely.

City Planner isnt undermined but rather, people dont have the will or skill to get to it. Ive seen people obtain city planner in survival by building great stuff in just months but it takes time and dedication which not many people are willing to give.

And of course, I agree in part with what you're saying. I say in part though because I think that nicknames might be something the user could get, NOT by rank but by time in the server. However, the higher the rank it usually means that they have spent a great deal of time there, or now, that they donated and who would like to lose their investment like that (either time or money).

So, nicknames could be given but to players that have spent a great deal of time with us, and should the sad occasion come, that are easily identifiable for the proper actions that would be taken upon them.

I am one of the people who uses /nick rarely (often used just for fun) and I'm satisfied with Pri's decision regarding the nicknames.

There are some ways to bring back /nick, like detecting if the nick chosen is closer to their username or not. It would detect the chosen nick if it has first letters of their username but when similar usernames come in, it adds confusion when it comes to banning. One time, I gave someone Rickies but the system gave Rickies to two similar usernames instead of one.

So, it's hard to recogize all these usernames if they made confusing nicks again.
