How to use ban

Hi there, Dust here. Now I noticed I've been banned for griefing.
Now, obviously, I'd never purpousely grief anything. But I'm not really here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about what banning and kicking are for and how they are to be used. You see, these tools are used to teach people a lesson or because the recipient of such a thing is dangerous to the server. Not for when someone does something accidentally. Now, I don't really play minecraft very much and I don't really care if you insist on banning me over a misunderstanding. But the important thing here is that this doesn't happen to future people. What benefit lies in banning someone? Well, that person no longer bothers the server. Or if they only did something kind of bad they can be temporarily banned to learn a lesson. If a person broke a rule, but has no chance of hurting anyone, nor does that person have any lesson to learn, why ban them? There is no reason. Other than the primitive notion of revenge that stems from a Hammurabi's Code-esque legal system. Anywho, best of luck and I hope my advice as an experienced admin doesn't fall on deaf ears. Try and remember what those things are for and perhaps also stay away from the "Shoot first, ask questions later" method.

Dustuu, on my server I'll run it how I want to. I don't need to be taught how to ban from an Admin that can't even use WorldEdit properly (By your own admission this was an "accident")

The fact is you went over to someone's incredibly detailed build. Selected one corner of it, flew over to the exact other corner of the build created a platform so you could select the other part of it (in the sky I might add) and typed //set 0 to erase the whole thing.

Afterwards you didn't say "omg Crono I just erased this guys thing by mistake!" you said nothing and flew back to Crono where you continued on Seasonshire. I have logs of everything. The way you were facing, the blocks you clicked the words you were saying. You did not act like someone who just did a mistake. Why didn't you make a forum post about it? Why didn't you type //undo, why didn't you ask Crono if he knew how to undo it?

I banned you so I wouldn't log in again to find yet more things erased. I told my staff that had you on Steam to discuss it with you and find out why you did what you did. I gave you the Architect level out of respect that you were staff on Cronos previous servers and I trusted you knew how to use the tools sufficiently. If you can give me a proper explanation for why you did it then I'll be waiting to hear it, but a little advice to you (from someone that has been operating this community as Admin since 2007) don't start your threads with a condescending tone next time.

I'm very much sure if I had WorldEdit on your server and I started deleting peoples things the next time I tried to log on I'd be met with a "you have been banned" message too. I did not overreact, I was protecting my users from your "accidents"

You can't just go around deleting other peoples things because you want the space. You need to either ask an Administrator first or ask the user who built it. It doesn't matter if the thing has been abandoned for months. In the case of Halls Tic Tac Toe game he only made it about 2-3 weeks ago and was still using that land for other Redstone games. That is why the deleted land was discovered so quickly. If you want to make a huge city I recommend finding a place on the map: http://map.renmx.com and doing it there or doing it inside your Architektus maps as you were the Admins there you are free to destroy whatever you want.

I'm a reasonable person but it really annoyed me that you deleted Halls Tic-Tac-Toe game. Because he used WorldEdit in the creation of a lot of it we couldn't even use logblock to put his game back. I had to import it from a backup file at great personal time of which I don't have a lot of.

That's all I have to say about it really.

Sorry. I fucked up. Sorry about you having to use your own time to fix the problem, also for sounding condescending in my post which I really wasn't trying to do. I really sincerely meant no harm in deleting that stuff, it just looked like spam to me or at the most something that had been pasted there. I meant no disrespect to anyone, especially the admins, in my post; I only seek to provide advice.

But sadly no matter what I do there will be a permanent bias against me here, and I don't really feel like playing the redemption game. I just hope that you don't think I'm a bad person or immature or sarcastic because of this one dumb mistake. And I hope that you won't hold my retardedness against the worthwhile members of Arch who made the migration. Take care you guys, I think I'll stick to single player for now ^^.
