I say make a giant battle field with two castles, once you die you are out, goal is to kill the nation leader on the opposing side. First nation to win is the one who kills the king.

Ive been working on a few things for this kind of thing. Because i really really do love the idea of PvP, but i dont like the risk of being slaughtered and my stuff being stolen.
Myself and Crazyspazman have built a battle arena, which has obstacles and stuff. Wooden swords, no armour are the rules. You can fill your health at the beginning of the fight, but thats all you can eat.
I have another area called "Tower"
This is a castle, with a (at the moment halfway) moat of lava. There is only one entrance to the castle which is a set of two iron bar fences. There are two towers. One on either side, with a main hall connected.
There are flat portions of the wall which could have ladders added to climb to the top of both towers.
The main hall is currently emtpy because i dont know what to put here yet.
But the basic principle of the game type is this;
Team 1 - defence
- Set Respawn limit
- Bows, and swords (more than likely wooden swords)
- No armour
- Build traps in advance using any means available. (Hidden piston pitfalls, lava traps so on.)
*any trap must allow for at least a 2 block passage through safely*
Team 2 - Attack;
- Set respawn limit
- Wooden picks, and ladders only.
- Bows, wooden swords
- No armour
- Gain access to the castle by breaking down the iron bars with pick, or by placing ladders up towers.
The final winner is decided by one team's respawns being fully depleted.
We can place wagers for each team and whatnot.
Also, the winner of the battle will become the new defender of the tower for whenever we will have the next battle. And they are free to build their own traps and the likes.

On another sever i played on, they had that when two nations fight they can conquer eachothers towns, ravaging and destroying it and after the war is over, everything that was damaged is rollbacked to its original state. Maybe something to do here?
I honestly think we need war, but i understand tex Dumskalle for not risking Mt5 being ravaged.

Also, Spawn should be made to a non PvP area. At least up to the first stargate.
