a Restraining Order Plugin.
They can be issued by staff; players pay a certain amount [say 5r per block] and each time that's paid to a staff member, they can extend the restraining order. This restraining order prevents certain players from going a certain radius from another player. With a max of maybe 50 blocks, this could stop a lot of the crap that's been going down lately. Just posting this in case I forgot the idea, although it's ultimately useless.
Right, another thing, the way restraining orders work, the restraining player can't go near the restrained player either. It's mutual, if that's phrased correctly.

There should be a gag order, an impeachment and legislative order.

Sounds silly to me, sounds like you just don't want me or my allies killing you. But overall I would see the order as ruining diversity and all PvP, plus it could be annoying if somebody just wants to pass through an area. Just stay in a no PvP area, claim outposts, and such. Or you could also fight back

It would also cause even more problems that would be far worse than somebody being killed, somebody could easily abuse it and make walls with it, or block other players from just minding their own business in a town or even in the wilderness. Could force players into other directions, glitch up, or cause lots of lag.

especially at spawn or in a town were multiple members congregate/reside

i like the idea then everyone could have a restraining order on rambo and problem is solved.

no rambo the only restraining orders would be on you excite and hobo so i cant see it being an annoyince

My 2 cents,
I played on a server for three years that offered no protection whatsoever from pvp. If you were somewhere where people could get to you without griefing, you were fair game. This taught me how to be aware of my surroundings and to be cautious when out in the open. You didn't leave your house without the proper protection and you didn't carry all your valuables with you (if you died, you lost everything on you). This would be "extreme survival" compared to how this server works. While I did enjoy the more realistic aspect of this type of survival, it's a completely different way to play the game. The server was littered with huge cobble walls as this was the only way to afford yourself protection while out in the open. I've really been able to focus on my builds on this server instead of security thanks to the towny plugin. The point I'm trying to get to with this rambling is this:

If you are a non-pvp player, you already have three great things going for you that most survival servers don't offer.
1. Towny protection
2. You only lose 10% of your inventory
3. The requirement to be in the same /fly mode as your opponent.

Were already making it incredibly difficult for people that want to pvp to get to you, and the incentive is drastically reduced due to the limits on what they get when they kill you.

I understand that different people want to play minecraft different ways. I feel like the system we have know is already restricting enough on pvpers. If you get killed on occasion, suck it up and be glad you didn't lose your entire inventory, armor and xp. If you're getting killed often, take it up with a mod/admin to see if it falls under harassment rules.

I'm fine with the way PVP is right now. We won't be adding any kind of restraining order plugin.

Fun is always our aim.
