Changes to Towny

This is a notice to explain some changes that have been made today to Towny.
  • 1. When a town runs out of money, the land that the town sits on will revert back to normal land.
    2. Tax for towns has increased from 2 Rickies per day to 5 Rickies per day.
    3. Tax for Nations has increased from 20 Rickies per day to 50 Rickies per day.
Thank you for reading the changes.

To explain why these changes have been made, consider that as of this post there are 178 towns on the server. About 100 of these towns are abandoned meaning the mayor no longer logs on to the server. This means large areas of the map which would otherwise be great for building are being taken up by these abandoned towns.

So due to this I have turned on reverting which means once a town runs out of money in its bank the land will revert (rollback) to a state before the town was founded. Allowing that land to be built on by someone else.

The increase in the taxes is similarly to benefit the reverting by depleting abandoned town banks at a faster rate. Where as before only 730 Rickies in a towns bank were required to keep it safe for an entire year, it now requires 1,825 Rickies and we may increase the daily upkeep cost again at a later date depending on how well this trial goes.

Finally there is the nation cost. Going to 50 rickies a day makes sure maintaining a nation is more difficult just as it should be.

It's nice idea.

What if I unclaim a town land? Will it revert to normal land too?

Yes freakboy. But of course Mods/Admins can use Logblock to restore land that gets reverted by Towny which we will do in the event of mistakes.
