If I could make a way for chests to automatically gain the protection signs, then I would. But the plugin we use doesn't offer that capability so there really is no way for me to protect chests once created.

Until we gain that capability I don't think denying stealing from unlocked chests is something we can enforce there is juts too many chests and too many noobs who don't read the rules.

You need to remember that if our rules differ too much from other servers we will gain a lot of ignorant people who will run foul of the rules because they expect our rules to be the same as other servers. Sometimes it's a bad thing to be too different.

Yeah, that part I understand. It makes sense to keep the rule as it is until some plugin is made that can auto lock chests to the player.

I don't think it's a personal belief. I understand it's just a game but that isn't a rebuttal of what I've said. Apart from being a good thing for the player stealing, how else is it a positive thing?

I can be convinced if someone would give me a good reason or logical argument.

I know in other games stealing is part of the idea. In anarchy servers stealing is a big part I'm guessing? That makes sense as chances are, players join that server for conflict, rather than a survival experience which requires cooperation and honest trading in order to flourish.

And we still have PVP, chests that can be raided in dungeons, forts, expired locks from players who are no longer active on the server etc.

It's like playing an FPS with FF on... it's easier (and maybe more fun) to play with it off, but it adds a different level to the game when it is on. It's not really a matter of realism - it's simply adding an element to the game that you have to think about, which makes it a little more challenging. I am a proponent of there being a reasonable level of challenge in Survival, or else it becomes pretty indistinguishable from Creative. There are a plethora of "amenities" already available in Survival, I say leave this one out
