Us, You and Minecraft 1.5

The situation right now:

As you may have noticed all three of our servers appear to be updated to Minecraft v1.5.

This isn't technically accurate. We are still on v1.4.7 but we are using a special version of the server software which uses the v1.5 network protocol instead of the v1.4.7 one. This means no v1.5 features will work on any of our servers (yet).

The reason I have done this is because every major update of Minecraft I tell you not to upgrade your game client until we do but people do it anyway. So by doing this we can allow everyone to update and maintain our servers population until we really do update to the v1.5 server software.

We will be updating to v1.5 for real in under a week from this post. But you are safe to update your client to v1.5 right now and in-fact you have to do so to continue playing on our servers.

There are a few problems at the moment. The main issue is that crafting items on our Survival server sometimes doesn't work. I'm aware of the issue (obviously as I'm telling you about it) and I hope to have a fix for this problem within the next 12 hours. Apart from that everything appears to be working correctly.

About the update to v1.5 itself:

This is going to be a lot of work to update us. We use many different plugins, about 50 on our Survival server. We also use a lot of custom software written by us for our servers like our Admin Control Panel. This means when we do update to v1.5 some things are going to break.

I suspect that voting for rickies may break, as-well as some other things like our ACP authentication system may not be able to log people in. Our online player listing system may also break. What this all means is I need you all to be very patient and to report any bugs you see in our official change tracking thread here: http://www.mxpulse.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1889 simply post a bug in that thread and it will be dealt with.
